If you’re struggling to connect with God this may help you

What if I told you that the gap you feel right now in your mind or heart between you and God could close in an instant? Could you believe it? In fact, the Truth is that it can close in an instant because the Cross can close any gap. It is our bridge no matter what. The enemy would love for you to believe the lie that the gap can’t be closed, or if you won’t believe that then at least to get you to believe that the gap can’t be closed that easily. He would have you stuck under the religious burden of working your way to back God or of trying to earn His approval or pleasure (elder brother stuff).

Because of the Cross all it takes is repentance; to change your mind (your way of thinking or your heart attitude) and then to go in the opposite direction, and as you do the waves of grace rise up to meet you and carry you “home”. No earning, no striving, no working, just turning around and returning home.

One of the things that causes our hearts to return home is to stare at God’s ridiculously amazing love long enough. It’s just a matter of time until the tug comes if you lose yourself in a verse like this one:

“Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father… And He chose us to be His very own, joining us to Himself even before He laid the foundation of the universe! Because of His great love, He ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in His eyes with unstained innocence.” Ephesians 1:3-4 Passion Translation.

So here is a key for you if you have been struggling to connect: turn and look at His love. Just look. Read that verse and others like it. Look, take in, mull over. Choose to believe you’re wrapped in Christ and made innocent, choose to believe He chose you. Let it affect your heart. Let it sink down from your head to your heart. Let it lead you to repentance and to returning. Let it take you home. He is your home! No work, no striving just rest into His Love and the gap closes in an instant.
