If you have a testimony of what God did in your life when you were part of a course, Sunday service or training that I did, please do share it with me. You can send me an email on the Contact page – I would love to hear from you and be able to share your testimony with others. “And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word of their testimony” Revelation 12:11.
Activated to prophesy
One of my great passions in the prophetic is equipping and activating people to prophesy. In the last month I have had the privilege to co-labour with God to do this both in Cape Town and in Lesotho and have seen over 100 people activated. Some have testified that it was their first time prophesying. Some recognised the voice of God for the first time, took risks to share it and were amazed at its accuracy and meaningfulness to the people receiving it. Some have testified that their existing prophetic gifts had been activated on a new level. Others testified that the ways in which they could perceive increased (eg: before they could sense by hearing only but now they could see impressions as well). What a joy it is that we as believers can hear God for ourselves, for those that don’t know Christ and for the building up of the Church.
Prophecy brings clarity of calling
On a recent mission trip I met a man over whom I’d prophesied two years earlier when I visited Zimbabwe. Part of the prophecy was that he has a gift in the area of counselling. He told me that when he had received the word two years earlier, it came as a surprise to him as he had never counselled anyone before. Having received the word, he decided to explore it. He told me of the amazing ways God was using him to counsel people and that he has “found his life calling”.
People empowered to hear God
One of the things I love most about doing prophetic ministry is empowering people to hear God, or to help them recognise the voice of God. Over the years we have had this joy hundreds of times and the testimonies always gladden our heart. I remember a particular night at Bible School. At the end of the training, I asked the students to trust God to speak to them for the person seated next to them. In particular they had to ask Him to speak to them through a colour or item of jewellery that the person was wearing. Of course some of them were stunned, but oh the beauty of their faces as peace came and they heard, saw and felt what God was saying to them. When they shared the words with each other a class that was at the beginning quiet and uninvolved came alive. They were hearing God and were empowered to encourage one another with what they were hearing.
One church testified to the increase in the number of people that were ministering prophetically to each other after the training, bringing words and stirring faith. This is what the prophetic is for – building up the Body as people encourage and minister to each other.
Here’s the testimony of a lady who attended one of the prophetic training sessions. She testified that she grew up in an environment where they did not learn about the Holy Spirit. “I always felt like I was made for something bigger than this… I moved to Cape Town and was searching for God. I found him and I got saved! But I was still battling with (recognising) the voice of God, if ever I would get a word I would doubt it.” She then shared about taking a risk to share a word with her friend, who in turn was blown away with the word and said that it took her out of the box she was in. “I see the breakthrough in her life and it means so much to me!” She said she learnt to recognise the voice of God and take a risk with what He says.
God cares
I was at a restaurant one day and noticed one of the staff behind the counter. She looked like the kind of person one does not go up to with a “word from God” if it can be helped 🙂 . She was rather aggressive looking. But of course Holy Spirit nudged until I went up to her. It was a simple word about her not being alone and God being present in her life. That tough exterior just melted and her face opened up as I spoke. She was moved by a God who cared about her and loved on her through a stranger. With her face transformed and smiling, she expressed many thanks for delivering the message and making her day. Amazing God who sees each one and lights up their world however dark! Risks are worth it.
“Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy…the one who prophecies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.” 1 Cor 14:1-3
“The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophecies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy.” 1 Cor 1:-5
