The age of the Kingdom has come
“ Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
Your Kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.” Matt 6:9-10
I have a dream of a generation:
Who live for God – radicals, bravehearts, burning ones …
Who fear God more than the devil and more than rejection from others,
A generation who has seen the treasure hidden in the field or have found the pearl of great price – and have sold everything for it.
A generation of sons who own … of princes and princesses who stand tall … of courageous leaders who change the world.
Fearless Kingdom-ones, prepared for spiritual battle.
Worshippers and lovers of God, full of the Spirit,
Secure in their identity, with love burning in their eyes, strength in their hands, life in their words and courage in their hearts.
Some time ago, inspired by Martin Luther King Jnr’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, I penned those words to echo the dream in my own heart.
Last year while away in Wolfkop I heard a voice saying “the age of the Kingdom has come”. This is the age of individuals, churches and movements coming together until it is not just a group, person or movement that we see, but the Body of Christ. The Kingdom bridges every divide and faction. The Kingdom unites.
Jesus is declaring his Body cancer-free: free from a spiritual cancer of division, competition and strife. I believe that as this happens, we will access greater authority to see people healed of physical cancers.
When Moses encountered the goodness of God, his face shone! Similarly, God wants to change the face of the Church now by a revelation of His goodness. As we experience and dwell in His goodness, our collective face will shine and the world will be attracted to it.
Jesus taught His disciples to teach that the Kingdom is coming and that the Kingdom is here. Historically it has come through different seasons and in different measures, ushering our generation into such a time as this. We were chosen to live in this time of restoration of the Body to it its Kingdom identity. It is the time not of the ones or twos, but of all of us walking in our Kingdom identity. It is the time of individual kingdoms being overtaken by the Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom goes way beyond the reaches of church as we know it, transforming every area of society from arts to government; from education to health.
This is the age of the Kingdom.
