5 things I am learning about stewarding revival
Ministry is the most wonderful thing when done from sonship and rest
From Papa’s lap of love and acceptance, there is no-one to perform for and no-one to impress. Lost in the wonderful affection of God, we lose ourselves in the matter of being loved and loving on Him. Indeed, out of that ocean of love we heal the sick, share the gospel, drive out demons and raise the dead. But, it’s not a striving or an earning of anything – it is just an overflow of love, a bringing of heaven to earth. In this place we find that there are no limits, no ceilings, not even the usual ebbs and flows that we’ve become accustomed to. In this place we find ourselves in a river that just keeps getting deeper the further we go.
Never stop celebrating what the Lord has done
Never stop shouting it from the rooftops. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony (Rev 12:11). Everything God does is Good News that the world desperately needs. Your testimonies shine as lights in the darkness.
Don’t allow yourself to become numb to miracles
Watch out for attitudes like “oh yes, I’ve seen that before” or “just another leg growing out, it’s not a big miracle”. Are you kidding me? Just a few years ago some of us would have flown to Alaska to see a leg grow out! We cannot afford to lose our childlike wonder and awe about everything the Lord does. Thankfulness and rejoicing are keys to stewarding a culture that attracts God’s presence. Let’s purpose in our hearts not to become like the Israelites who were accompanied by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night but whose hearts stopped seeing the glory in it.
Keep your gaze on God
As awesome as miracles and healings are, we must relentlessly keep our gaze steadfastly on God and our hearts affected by His affection. Nothing, nothing, nothing must steal from our private times with God, our personal revelling in His love for us, or our oil of intimacy (Matt 25). It’s only through a sustained relationship with the God of miracles that this revival will even have any longevity.
We need each other
Not one of us can do this alone. We are not in competition with each other, there is more than enough room for everyone and abundance in God. Here’s to a generation on fire for God!
